The flagship job
Chosen for Manchester Airport.
When Manchester Airport needs pavement surfacing, Dinsdale Contracts is the contractor it calls. Airfield work is surfacing at its most demanding: tight tolerances, unforgiving inspection, and a hard deadline before the first departure. The same discipline lands on every job we price, from a runway apron to a farm road.
✓ Airfield pavement works · live operationsThe night shift
Laid while the county sleeps.
Much of the serious surfacing in Cumbria happens after dark, when a road can be closed, planed, relaid and handed back before the morning traffic. Our crews are certified to National Highways Sector Schemes 16 and 23 and work nights as a matter of routine, from carriageways to airport pavements.

✓ Machine-laid, real Dinsdale jobAt your house
The same machines build your driveway.
A driveway from a highway contractor gets highway construction: excavation to a designed depth, a compacted sub-base, then machine-laid courses rolled while hot. Written itemised quotes from a site visit, a programmed date, and a site left clean.

Where we work
Based in the Eden Valley, working nationwide.
The yard is at Cross Croft, Appleby-in-Westmorland, and the contracts run wherever the work is: Manchester Airport sits on the same job list as the village lane. These are the Cumbrian towns we cover week in, week out.
Fair questions
Asked before, answered straight.
How do I know you are not the doorstep tarmac lads?
You ring us, we do not knock on doors. The firm has traded from Appleby since 1981, is registered at Companies House, and every job starts with a site visit and a written itemised quote. Policies and certificates are available on request.
How is the price worked out?
From a site visit, in writing, itemised. You see what the excavation, base, materials and laying each cost before you commit, so you can compare it fairly against any other quote.
Do you take on small jobs?
Yes. The firm's own words for forty years: no job is too small or too large. A gateway repair sits in the same diary as an airport pavement.
Will the site be left tidy?
Yes, and it is checked before we leave. Customers mention it in their own words: the job was left immaculately clean.
What do NHSS 16 and 23 actually mean for me?
They are National Highways Sector Schemes, the certification highway authorities require for pavement repair work. For a private client they mean the crews on your job are audited to the standard the public road demands.
Can you do urgent work?
Urgent surface repairs and sweeper callouts are part of the service, including out of hours around night works. Ring 017683 53222 and say it is urgent.
